About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential client in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure sector. They are seeking a Senior Director of Public Charging to lead strategic account management and segment intelligence for their public charging business across the United States.

This is a dual-function role that combines quota-carrying strategic account ownership with the creation of segment-specific playbooks that directly inform product roadmap, regulatory positioning, and go-to-market strategy. You will serve as the critical bridge between field reality and executive decision-making, ensuring that what gets built and sold reflects actual customer behavior rather than assumptions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive segment blueprints for public charging operators and retail/destination charging, documenting customer economics, procurement patterns, technical requirements, and competitive dynamics
  • Translate field intelligence into structured inputs for Product, Policy, R&D, and Marketing teams through established feedback loops with defined cadence
  • Own and grow a portfolio of top-tier public charging accounts as the primary point of accountability for relationship health, expansion, and retention
  • Lead negotiation and contract structuring for complex, multi-year strategic agreements
  • Coordinate cross-functional pursuit teams on major RFPs and competitive bids, leveraging segment data to sharpen proposal strategy
  • Generate new growth opportunities with major market participants within priority charging segments
  • Provide business case analysis, financial modeling, and ROI assessments to support major pursuits and investment decisions
  • Track performance of segment strategies against plan and adjust blueprints as market conditions evolve

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 10–15 years of experience in business development, strategic account management, or strategic planning
  • Minimum 5 years managing multi-regional field sales teams
  • Background in EV, energy, or technology sectors required; public charging market exposure strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to build executive-ready presentations that translate complex data into clear narratives for internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools to accelerate research, analysis, and content development
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities
  • Track record of building top-tier commercial relationships and translating account insights into cross-functional influence with Product, Policy, R&D, and Marketing teams
  • Strategic thinker who can also execute operationally, converting high-level goals into actionable segment blueprints and account plans
  • Proficiency in market research, data analysis, and presenting findings to leadership
  • Deep understanding of the electric mobility industry, public charging infrastructure, and energy markets highly preferred
  • Willingness to travel domestically as business needs require
