About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing technology company in the circular economy space, seeking a Senior Decision Scientist to join their Category Experience team in Berlin. This role sits at the intersection of data science, product development, and user experience, focusing on catalog structure and taxonomy optimization.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to drive data-informed decisions that enhance how millions of users navigate and interact with product categories. Working alongside product managers, engineers, and taxonomy specialists, you'll design experiments, analyze behavioral patterns, and provide strategic recommendations that directly impact the member experience.

As part of a broader data science community, you'll collaborate with data professionals across the organization while maintaining close partnerships with your immediate product team.

Responsibilities

• Partner with stakeholders to identify strategic opportunities and answer critical business questions through data analysis, providing recommendations that improve category structures, taxonomy design, and user experience
• Co-create and support the product experimentation roadmap by defining A/B testing requirements, ensuring proper tracking implementation, and analyzing test results using statistical methods and visualization tools
• Define, calculate, and monitor key performance indicators and behavioral metrics, proactively identifying issues and uncovering insights through deeper analysis
• Enable taxonomy specialists to adopt data-driven approaches to catalog design and category structure optimization
• Support engineering teams with data analytics questions and requirements
• Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences through clear presentations and documentation

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience as a Decision Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar role with a strong quantitative component
• Demonstrated experience designing and running product experiments (A/B testing) with knowledge of statistical modeling and probability theory; experience with causal inference methods is a bonus
• Strong business results orientation with the ability to balance scientific rigor with pragmatic problem-solving
• Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, knowing when to go deep and when to prioritize business impact
• Highly results-oriented mindset, comfortable working iteratively and adapting based on findings
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex results convincingly to diverse audiences
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and analysis
• Experience with business intelligence tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
• Fluent English, both written and spoken

This is a hybrid position based in Berlin with approximately two recommended office days per week. Our client offers flexibility for remote work within the EU (up to 90 days per year) and provides support for home office setup.
