Staff Product Designer, Marketplace Product

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential secondhand marketplace platform in their search for a Staff Product Designer to join their Berlin team. In this senior role, you will be accountable for high-impact projects that drive measurable outcomes across the core user experience.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Leading complex product design initiatives from ambiguous requirements through to shipped features that demonstrate clear business impact
• Elevating the capability of individual contributors through pair work, critique sessions, and direct coaching
• Partnering with product managers and engineers to embed design thinking across cross-functional teams
• Owning and evolving design standards as business needs and user contexts shift
• Implementing AI-powered workflows for the design team and exploring AI's implications for end users
• Building investment cases for strategic opportunities and influencing senior stakeholders to commit resources
• Setting the quality bar through your own craft execution
• Earning trust with leadership through sound judgment, clear communication, and confident decision-making on major design bets

What We're Looking For

• 10+ years of product design experience working on consumer-scale digital products; marketplace experience is a strong advantage
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional taste, strategic judgment, and evidence of shipped impact
• Self-directed work style—you identify what needs doing and execute without waiting for direction
• Active hands-on use of AI tools in your design workflow, prototyping, and automation processes
• Sharp eye for quality with the discernment to know when polish matters and when speed is more important
• Resilience during slow, contested, or unglamorous phases of work
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to balance depth with shipping velocity
• Strong perspective paired with intellectual flexibility to adapt your viewpoint
• Track record of changing how an organization operates, not just what it delivers

Pay

This is a hybrid role based in Berlin with two recommended office days per week. The position offers 30 days of paid annual leave, learning budget, workation flexibility, and comprehensive benefits including pension matching, health insurance, and equipment support.
