Our client's consulting practice provides comprehensive technical, financial, and strategic advisory services to utilities, independent power producers, project developers, lenders, investors, government agencies, and system operators navigating the energy transition.

In this role, you'll lead high-impact projects combining consulting rigor with technical depth, helping clients with everything from new generation portfolio development and grid modernization to data center energy campus planning and strategic advisory work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning consulting projects including market, technology, and policy assessments for energy sector clients
  • Manage technical due diligence and owner's engineering reviews for power and energy projects, reviewing deliverables such as reports and technical studies
  • Conduct project economic and cost analyses, risk assessments, and contracting strategy development
  • Provide client program and project management support, improving governance, business processes, controls, and stakeholder alignment
  • Develop conceptual plans in coordination with technical teams to meet client objectives
  • Prepare and present project implementation strategies and plans to client executives and project teams
  • Translate complex technical findings into clear, client-ready deliverables including presentations and written reports
  • Lead discrete workstreams within larger client engagements
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of junior team members, providing technical direction and managing work to budget and scope
  • Develop staff expertise through training and mentoring
  • Contribute to business development including proposal preparation and client relationship building

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering (other engineering disciplines or finance/economics may be considered)
  • 15+ years of experience in the power industry
  • Experience and technical knowledge across multiple power generation technologies, including conventional and renewable sources
  • Experience managing teams of engineers and/or consultants
  • Prior management consulting or advisory experience with direct client interaction and responsibility for analytical work products
  • Demonstrated experience working with electric or gas utilities, independent power producers, project developers, grid operators, or energy investors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including comfort with quantitative models, large datasets, and financial/economic analysis
  • Proven ability to produce clear, well-structured deliverables (Excel models, PowerPoint presentations, written reports) and communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences
  • Experience leading client meetings, workshops, or presentations with direct stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced, project-based consulting environment
  • High level of initiative, ownership, and accountability with a track record of delivering quality work with limited supervision
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Valued but Not Required:

  • Experience in technical due diligence and owner's engineering design reviews of power projects
  • Understanding of power plant operations and performance, including key operational and financial drivers
