About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential SaaS organization in their search for a Senior Backend Engineer based in the USA. Our client builds enterprise reliability and testing platforms used by Fortune 500 companies and high-availability teams worldwide. This is a remote role where you'll work on complex distributed systems that directly impact how major organizations maintain uptime and prevent costly outages.
As a senior engineer, you'll collaborate with a talented, distributed team to design and build sophisticated tooling, mentor teammates, and solve challenging technical problems at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop backend services and distributed systems for enterprise reliability tooling
- Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Architect complex systems and integrations with external platforms
- Mentor and support the growth of engineering team members
- Maintain high standards for automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions within a remote-first culture
- Focus on quality, delivery predictability, and customer experience
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java
- Strong proficiency in Go and systems-level programming
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Lambda, serverless architectures; GCP or Oracle Cloud also valued)
- Experience with DynamoDB and/or other NoSQL databases, or major relational databases
- Deep knowledge of infrastructure and systems technologies: Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift
- Proven track record architecting distributed systems and external integrations
- Strong commitment to automated testing, CI/CD pipelines, and engineering excellence
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills in remote environments
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with on-call rotations and incident management programs
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, TypeScript)
- Track record taking features from concept through full production release
