Chief of Staff for Engineering

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain infrastructure organization in their search for a Chief of Staff for Engineering. This is a rare opportunity to work directly with a visionary technical founder, operating at the intersection of strategic leadership and technical execution in the Web3 space.

This remote role sits at the heart of organizational leadership, serving as the critical bridge between founder vision and company-wide execution. You will partner with C-level executives and function leaders to drive alignment, clarity, and forward momentum across a fast-moving, globally distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the founder's technical right hand, managing context, priorities, and follow-through on strategic initiatives
• Transform competing priorities and ambiguous directives into structured action plans without losing organizational momentum
• Think 12-24 months ahead, mapping second- and third-order consequences of current decisions
• Lead cross-functional problem solving when issues fall between departments, leveraging technical credibility and operational instinct
• Design and run the operating system for leadership team cadences, including OKRs, technical reviews, and decision-making frameworks
• Manage relationships up, across, and down the organization, adapting communication style to diverse stakeholders from C-suite to individual contributors
• Anticipate founder needs and spot counterproductive initiatives before they cause organizational damage

What We're Looking For

• Background in engineering or engineering management with ability to credibly engage with CTOs and technical leadership
• Proven track record running complex, cross-functional programs at senior level; experience founding or leading a company strongly preferred
• Experience managing leaders, including more junior managers
• Exceptional communicator who can shift registers between demanding founders, function leads, and team members
• Long-term strategic thinker who considers 12-24 month implications of today's decisions
• Strong understanding of the blockchain and Web3 ecosystem—you distinguish substance from hype and are genuinely curious about where the technology is headed
• Thrives in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with high-conviction leadership
• High-calibre academic credentials or exceptional track record demonstrating equivalent capability
• Comfortable managing without direct authority and driving decisions in non-hierarchical organizations
