Senior Software Engineer, Understanding

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential AI search technology company in Paris. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their core search relevance group, working on features that power billions of queries and deliver exceptional search experiences for thousands of enterprise clients worldwide.

This role offers the chance to work on challenging problems at internet scale, collaborating with cross-functional teams including machine learning specialists, front-end developers, and data engineers. You'll be instrumental in designing and developing ranking and understanding features that directly impact how users discover information.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop ranking and understanding features for a high-scale search platform
• Build and maintain production pipelines handling large datasets and high-traffic workloads
• Collaborate with diverse team members including ML specialists and front-end developers
• Ensure quality and reliability of data pipelines and API services
• Contribute to the architecture of features like query suggestions, synonym detection, and re-ranking systems
• Apply data-driven approaches to optimize search relevance and performance

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Proven experience designing and operating production pipelines
• Track record working with large datasets and high-traffic systems
• Experience building and maintaining API services
• Strong commitment to code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices
• Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Excellent spoken and written English skills
• Interest in solving ranking and search relevance challenges

Nice to Have:

• Experience operating AI models in production environments
• Proficiency in Go or Python
• Kubernetes experience
• Data-driven decision making skills and SQL proficiency
• Sensitivity to end-user experience
