Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential AI infrastructure organization expanding compute capacity in the Paris area. This hands-on datacenter role maintains and troubleshoots GPU and CPU clusters supporting large-scale research and engineering workloads.

You will work on-site at a facility in Bruyères-le-Châtel, executing hardware interventions to keep critical infrastructure healthy and operational:

  • Diagnose and repair server and cluster components including CPUs, memory, storage drives, network interface cards, GPUs, power supplies, switches, cables, and transceivers across Ethernet and InfiniBand systems
  • Perform safe hardware interventions using lockout/tagout procedures and electrostatic discharge protocols to replace, re-seat, or recable components and restore service
  • Conduct first-line diagnostics using LEDs, POST codes, beep codes, and basic testing; document findings with photos, serial numbers, and results in ticketing systems
  • Support preventive maintenance programs by providing feedback on recurring issues, contributing to standard operating procedures, and helping transform ad-hoc checks into automated alerts and dashboards
  • Manage parts inventory, coordinate simple RMA processes, and work with vendors on component replacement and tracking
  • Collaborate with senior hardware and firmware specialists on complex multi-node issues, providing clear status updates and next steps
  • Maintain accurate documentation including SOPs, checklists, and audit-ready records with zero undocumented changes

What We're Looking For

Must-have skills:

  • Hands-on datacenter or server hardware experience including installing, re-seating, and swapping GPU/PCIe cards, NICs, PSUs, drives, and working in rack environments with proper cabling and labeling practices
  • Alternatively, strong Linux fundamentals (boot processes, log analysis) and scripting ability (Python or Bash) with eagerness to learn hardware through mentorship
  • Disciplined approach to safety protocols including ESD and lockout/tagout procedures; careful handling of high-value components
  • Practical understanding of electrical safety: power-off procedures, PPE requirements, short-circuit risk awareness
  • Comfort working with rack infrastructure including cooling systems, network equipment, storage arrays, PDUs, and cable management; ability to lift and mount equipment safely within health and safety limits
  • Clear communication skills with ability to provide concise factual updates; reliable team player with punctual, process-oriented mindset
  • Strong curiosity and craft mindset toward hardware systems

Preferred qualifications:

  • Production-scale experience in HPC, AI infrastructure, or cloud environments with large fleet server installation and maintenance
  • Basic networking knowledge covering Ethernet and InfiniBand technologies
  • Linux administration skills for boot checks and system verification (coding not required)
  • Coding or automation experience with Python or Bash for creating tools that improve checklists, capture photos/serial numbers, sync inventory, or generate simple monitoring reports
  • Familiarity with inventory management or RMA tools and vendor coordination processes
  • Background in HPC, research, or industrial computing environments
