Research Engineer, Data Infrastructure

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential AI organization in their search for a Research Engineer focused on Data Infrastructure. This is a chance to work on frontier-scale compute and storage systems that power advanced machine learning research and development.

You'll join a team building the foundation for training and fine-tuning at massive scale—architecting data lakes, orchestration layers, and metadata systems designed to grow into exabyte-scale infrastructure. This role involves full lifecycle ownership, from system design to production operations, supporting critical workloads across distributed multi-cluster environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale distributed compute and storage systems to support high-performance model training and fine-tuning
• Design and implement multi-cluster orchestration to optimize workload placement across diverse hardware and geographic regions
• Architect modern storage solutions using columnar formats to handle datasets at exabyte-anticipated scale
• Contribute to internal platform development across Kubernetes and SLURM environments
• Implement metadata and lineage systems to provide visibility across growing data and model pipelines
• Manage cloud-native deployments using modern workflows, ensuring reliability and efficiency at scale
• Participate in on-call rotations for critical training infrastructure

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience in Data Infrastructure, MLOps, or Infrastructure Engineering
• Experience or strong interest in foundational compute and storage platforms
• Proficiency in Python with a focus on solving large-scale data engineering challenges
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes-native tooling and distributed systems debugging across multi-cluster environments
• Track record of building scalable, reliable, and secure systems from the ground up
• Comfort working in ambiguous, high-growth environments with rapidly evolving requirements
• Based in or willing to relocate to Paris, London, Warsaw, or Zurich; or remote within France, UK, Poland, or Switzerland with willingness to visit a local hub for onboarding and at least three days per month thereafter
