About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect and build production-grade distributed AI systems. This full-time role offers the chance to drive technical innovation while mentoring engineering teams in a cutting-edge environment.
Responsibilities
- Architect and develop distributed microservice systems running on Linux environments
- Lead technical initiatives around service mesh architecture, contract-first APIs, and inter-service communication patterns
- Build scalable data processing pipelines and high-throughput service infrastructure
- Design and evolve service contracts and API definitions across the platform
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to mid-level and junior engineers
- Drive observability practices including distributed tracing, structured logging, and metrics
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of professional experience developing distributed backend systems on Linux
- Expert-level Python programming and software architecture capabilities
- Strong system design skills focused on service boundaries, API contracts, and fault tolerance
- Deep fluency operating in Linux environments — comfortable in the shell, reading logs, and reasoning about process, network, and filesystem behavior
- Excellence in technical communication and documentation
Required Technical Skills:
- Expertise in prompt engineering and AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Copilot, or equivalent) as part of daily workflow
- Deep experience designing and operating microservice architectures at scale
- Expertise with gRPC and Protocol Buffers including schema evolution, streaming RPCs, interceptors, and contract-first development
- Proficiency with version control and CI/CD practices
- Experience with containerized deployments (Docker on Linux), service discovery, and distributed computing
- Strong understanding of observability patterns and tooling
Highly Competitive Candidates Will Also Bring:
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial automation, or quality control systems
- Familiarity with monorepo build systems (Bazel, Buck, Pants) and polyglot code generation
- Knowledge of backwards/forwards compatibility patterns and API versioning at scale
- Experience with real-time processing and edge computing on resource-constrained Linux devices
- Background with configuration management and infrastructure-as-code (Ansible, Terraform) for Linux fleet operations

Pay
