Director, Global Reliability (Remote, Remote, US)

About This Opportunity

Our recruiting team is representing a leading global consumer products organization in their search for a Director of Global Reliability. This remote role will oversee enterprise-wide reliability programs and technical training across a network of more than 40 manufacturing facilities and 60 distribution centers spanning multiple continents.

You will serve as the strategic owner of the organization's equipment management framework—governing how approximately 29,000 assets are planned, acquired, operated, maintained, and retired across the supply chain network. This position carries dual accountability: managing fleet-wide reliability engineering programs and owning global technical training that builds maintenance and engineering capability across the workforce.

Responsibilities

Global Reliability Program Leadership

• Own and execute the multi-year global reliability program roadmap across 40+ manufacturing sites and 60 distribution centers
• Define and deploy global reliability standards including asset registry and criticality ranking, PM interval optimization using RCM and condition-based methodologies, and tiered condition monitoring by asset class
• Drive network-wide improvement in planned maintenance rate toward 85%+ target; manage site prioritization and intervention strategy
• Lead OEE and TEEP improvement initiatives targeting 80% OEE and 60% TEEP across the manufacturing footprint
• Serve as enterprise steward for Equipment and Facility Optimization programs, defining pillar standards, audit criteria, and maturity progression models

Fleet Management Strategy

• Develop and execute fleet management strategies for the 29,000-asset portfolio, treating equipment populations as managed fleets with standardized lifecycle policies
• Define asset classification taxonomy and fleet segmentation criteria; establish fleet-level criticality ratings
• Develop fleet-based replacement and renewal schedules integrated with capital planning cycles
• Build fleet performance benchmarks across sites and regions; identify systemic failure patterns and standardization opportunities
• Establish spare parts strategies at the fleet level, including global kitting standards and OEM partnership agreements

Condition Monitoring & Predictive Maintenance

• Design and deploy condition monitoring programs by asset class: vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and motor circuit analysis
• Own and govern the enterprise tribology and lubrication management program including scorecard standards and site assessment cadence
• Build predictive maintenance capability in coordination with AI platforms and site reliability engineers
• Establish failure mode libraries and FMECA databases for critical asset classes

CMMS & Asset Data Governance

• Own global CMMS program governance including asset registry completeness, PM plan quality, work order integrity, and labor tracking standards
• Partner with IT and OT teams to ensure CMMS data flows into analytics platforms and supports real-time reliability KPI dashboards
• Lead asset lifecycle management practices including capital planning inputs and criticality-based replacement scheduling

Technical Training & Capability Development

• Design and govern technical training programs including manufacturing engineering skills, reliability fundamentals, automation operations, and condition monitoring
• Develop role-based training curricula and technical learning pathways for engineering and maintenance roles
• Build and maintain a global technical training calendar across NAM, EMEA, LATAM, and APAC regions
• Establish training effectiveness metrics and competency assessment tools
• Oversee reliability and maintenance skills development including technician certification and analyst training programs

Team & Organizational Leadership

• Build and lead a global reliability team including senior reliability engineers, technicians, and regional coordinators
• Partner with site-level engineering managers and maintenance supervisors to build reliability ownership
• Present program status, KPIs, and investment requirements to executive leadership
• Build business cases for reliability investment including cost avoidance models and OEE value modeling

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred
• 10+ years of progressive experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or asset management in manufacturing environments
• Demonstrated experience building or leading reliability programs at multi-site or enterprise scale, with working knowledge of ISO 55000 asset management standards
• Expert-level knowledge of RCM, condition monitoring technologies (vibration, oil analysis, thermography), and PM optimization methodologies
• Familiarity with asset management body of knowledge frameworks and competency domains governing professional certification programs
• Experience with CMMS platforms (MicroMain or equivalent)
• Strong command of OEE, TEEP, MTBF, MTTR, and Six Big Losses frameworks
• Proven ability to lead across global, matrixed organizations with manufacturing sites in multiple regions

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Reliability Leader (CRL) or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP); CRL preferred
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing systems
• Experience integrating reliability data with industrial AI/ML platforms or digital twins
• Multilingual capability (Spanish, Portuguese, or French) valued for LATAM and EMEA scope
