About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential biotech organization seeking a Medicinal Chemist for a fully remote contract role. Our client is advancing AI-assisted drug discovery and needs specialized scientific expertise to support their research initiatives. This position is open to candidates based in Japan and offers flexible commitment levels.
Responsibilities
- Design realistic research problems for AI models in drug research and development contexts
- Build comprehensive data repositories from real, source-grounded data with full traceability to original sources
- Develop grading frameworks that evaluate submitted scientific work on substantive merit rather than presentation style
- Conduct verification and calibration processes before deliverable submission
- Own revision cycles and rework when reviewers request modifications
- Work independently and asynchronously to ensure high-quality scientific outputs
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Working expertise in one or more of the following: mechanistic enzymology, structure-guided peptide or antibody design, fragment-based discovery, or structure-based medicinal chemistry
- PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field, or equivalent industry track record demonstrating advanced expertise
- Ability to formulate scientific problems whose solutions can be defended with rigorous evidence
- Comfortable evaluating the quality of scientific reasoning processes, not just final conclusions
- Strong independent work habits suitable for asynchronous collaboration
Position Details:
- Contract basis, hourly compensation
- 20–40 hours per week commitment (flexible)
- Fully remote from Japan
