About This Opportunity

We are representing a leading European cloud infrastructure and hosting provider seeking an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer to join their Customer Operations team in Berlin. Our client operates one of Europe's largest cloud platforms, serving millions of business customers across multiple markets.

This is a customer-facing technical role combining hands-on operations engineering with technical consulting for enterprise clients. You'll work in a 24/7 shift rotation environment, troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure issues and ensuring service continuity for business-critical workloads.

Location: Berlin, Germany (hybrid work model)
Work Schedule: 24/7 shift rotation (three shifts)
Languages Required: Fluent German and English
Security Clearance: Willingness to undergo extended security screening (SÜ2) required

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical advisor and operations engineer for enterprise customers in complex cloud environments
• Analyze customer workloads, debug complex incidents, and develop permanent solutions or workarounds
• Monitor cloud infrastructure and take proactive action when issues arise
• Automate recurring problems and tasks using scripts, tools, and AI-assisted development
• Manage the complete incident lifecycle: from ticket intake through root cause analysis to service restoration
• Collaborate with development and sales teams to improve platform quality and stability
• Work with security-sensitive environments under strict compliance and security requirements
• Utilize ticketing and documentation systems to track issues and share knowledge

What We're Looking For

• Several years of experience operating cloud infrastructures in production environments
• Strong expertise in Linux system administration and networking fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (Qemu/KVM)
• Proficiency with container orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Deep knowledge of networking (LAN/WAN/VPN, DNS, DHCP) and network troubleshooting
• Experience with storage systems (S3, file, object, and block storage)
• Familiarity with web APIs and request handling
• Working knowledge of monitoring and alerting platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, OpsGenie, or similar)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and deployment tools (Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Git)
• Strong customer-first mentality with excellent problem-solving skills
• Passion for troubleshooting using logs, traces, and metrics
• Experience with ticketing and documentation platforms (Jira, Confluence, or similar)
• Scripting and software development skills, ideally including AI-assisted coding tools
• Willingness to participate in shift rotation and undergo extended security clearance
• Fluent German and English communication skills (both written and spoken)
