About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential B2B SaaS organization based in Germany that is building a leading platform in the customer acquisition space. Our talent team is seeking a Head of IT to lead their technical organization and drive operational excellence across product, data, software, and infrastructure.
This is a leadership role reporting directly to the CTO, with full responsibility for an 8-person technical team spanning development, data, and infrastructure. The position offers 100% remote work from anywhere in Germany, with occasional quarterly visits to the Bremen office for team events and planning sessions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the technical team of 8 professionals through both disciplinary and technical leadership, including 1:1s, goal setting, development planning, and recruitment
- Assume operational responsibility from the CTO for prioritization, resource planning, escalations, and day-to-day technical decisions
- Own delivery of the product roadmap across all four domains: product, data, software, and infrastructure, ensuring committed timelines are met
- Establish predictable delivery processes with clear workflows for planning, development, testing, and releases, making progress visible across the organization
- Build reliable data foundations for key metrics around leads, appointments, and orders that sales, marketing, and leadership can trust
- Ensure platform stability, security, and scalability through monitoring, incident management, backups, access controls, and GDPR compliance
- Stay technically engaged by evaluating architecture decisions, participating in code reviews, and maintaining the ability to review code when needed
- Actively manage technical debt by making it visible, assessing it economically, and negotiating repayment schedules with stakeholders
- Serve as the primary technical contact for business units, translating between business requirements and technical implementation
- Manage external service providers and tools, including selection, contracts, and budget responsibility for the IT function
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years of experience leading technical teams of at least 3 people in roles such as Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, Team Lead, or Head of IT
- Solid technical background as a developer with ideally 5+ years of hands-on experience building what you now lead
- Multi-disciplinary leadership experience managing not just development but also data and/or infrastructure functions
- Practical experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and modern web and platform architectures
- Strong prioritization skills with the ability to say no when justified and maintain focus when multiple departments make competing demands
- Process implementation experience introducing workflows that teams actually follow without creating excessive bureaucracy
- Data-driven working style where you measure before deciding and make results transparent and understandable to others
- Excellent communication skills with non-technical stakeholders, able to explain technical constraints to sales, marketing, and leadership in ways that are understood and accepted
- Self-direction and execution strength, identifying what needs to be done without waiting for instructions
- Very strong German language skills (minimum C1 level) and good English proficiency
- Experience in fast-growing environments such as startups, scale-ups, or agencies is a strong advantage
- Familiarity with lead generation, performance marketing, or B2B SaaS is beneficial but not required
