Platform Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data engineering organization seeking a Platform Engineer in Argentina. Our client is a remote-first company building modern data infrastructure and machine learning solutions. This role focuses on integrating AI-assisted development tools and LLM capabilities into internal platforms while maintaining strong data engineering foundations.

Responsibilities

• Build data pipelines, backend services, frontends, and proof-of-concept solutions using AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot
• Integrate large language models, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI agents into the platform to automate data engineering and operational workflows
• Design reusable platform capabilities and data pipelines with a focus on scalability
• Implement automation, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code on AWS
• Integrate APIs and third-party tools to enable self-service platform capabilities
• Move fluidly between pipeline development, backend engineering, and frontend work to deliver prototypes quickly

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Demonstrated experience building with generative AI: daily use of GitHub Copilot or similar tools, plus at least one completed project involving LLMs, RAG, or AI agents
• Professional experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform, or Cloud Data Engineering roles
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and building data pipelines
• Ability to work across the stack—pipelines, backend, and frontend—and ship functional prototypes rapidly
• Working knowledge of Git, CI/CD practices, and Infrastructure as Code

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Redshift, Glue, Lake Formation, dbt, or Terraform
• Familiarity with Data Mesh or Lakehouse architectures
• Knowledge of vector databases, agent frameworks, or spec-driven development approaches
