Senior Cinematic Animator (CONTRACT)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential gaming studio for an 8-month contract Senior Cinematic Animator role. This is a remote opportunity open to candidates authorized to work in the United States. We're seeking an experienced animator who excels at creating high-quality in-game cinematics using both motion capture and hand-key techniques.

Responsibilities

• Develop cinematic animation content that meets visual and performance standards, ensuring alignment with project schedules and benchmarks
• Collaborate with Animation Directors and Lead Animators to design cinematics that reflect the game's vision and adhere to established cinematography style
• Contribute to setting and maintaining performance standards while working cross-functionally to ensure seamless integration of cinematics into the game engine
• Refine character performances with focus on both body and facial animation to create lifelike and engaging scenes
• Participate actively in cinematic team feedback sessions, presenting work and incorporating constructive critique
• Utilize project management tools such as Jira and Flow to track progress and manage workload effectively
• Communicate progress updates to Animation Directors and Project Management, proactively addressing potential roadblocks
• Mentor junior artists and support the animation team's goals and objectives

What We're Looking For

• Advanced proficiency in Maya for cinematic animation production
• Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in both motion capture and hand-key animation techniques
• Deep understanding of animation and camera principles essential for crafting realistic and immersive cinematic experiences
• Demonstrated ability to drive the cinematic process from script interpretation and scene layout through final implementation
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; MotionBuilder and Adobe Premiere are a plus
• Knowledge of common state machine flow in game engines is beneficial
• Mathematical ability to calculate figures, proportions, percentages, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Must be authorized to work in the United States for contract engagement
