About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential automotive marketplace client in their search for a Staff Product Designer based in London. This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you'll own complex problem spaces end-to-end and set the standard for design excellence across the organisation.

Our client operates at genuine scale, serving millions of users across their digital marketplace. You'll be working on products that directly influence how consumers and dealers interact within a multi-billion-pound ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design for a major problem space within the marketplace, from discovery and framing through to launch and iteration
  • Prototype rapidly using AI design tools, creating testable experiences for users and stakeholders early in the process
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams, bridging the gap between design intent and shipped product
  • Identify and champion new opportunities, building evidence-based cases that align product and engineering partners
  • Elevate team craft standards through critique, mentorship, and exemplary work
  • Champion AI-native workflows, sharing techniques and building reusable processes for the wider team
  • Ground design decisions in evidence combining user research, data analysis, and rapid experimentation

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

  • 7+ years of product design experience leading complex, high-impact work in consumer or marketplace products
  • Demonstrated AI fluency with hands-on experience using tools like Claude Design (or equivalent AI design/prototyping platforms) as a core part of your workflow—this is critical and should be evident in your portfolio
  • Strong end-to-end craft from ambiguous problem statements to polished, production-ready designs
  • Comfort working with ambiguity and pace, making sound decisions with incomplete information
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder influence capabilities
  • Experience mentoring designers and raising team standards

Strongly preferred:

  • Experience with AI coding agents sufficient to prototype in code or collaborate deeply with engineers
  • Marketplace, e-commerce, or two-sided platform background
  • Familiarity with experimentation-driven product development including A/B testing and funnel analysis

Important note: Our client's design team works AI-natively, using modern tooling to move from concept to high-quality prototype in hours rather than weeks. Genuine fluency with these workflows is essential—candidates should be prepared to discuss specific examples of AI tools playing a meaningful role in their process.

How We Work With You

Please do not contact the client directly—all communication should flow through our recruiting team to ensure the best candidate experience.
