About This Position
As an ECG Technician/Lab Assistant with University Health Network, you'll support essential diagnostic and laboratory services in one of Toronto's premier healthcare institutions. This full-time position involves technical support in the Laboratory Medicine department, where your work directly contributes to patient care and clinical outcomes.
Your Responsibilities
- Perform electrocardiogram (ECG) testing and recording under clinical guidance
- Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and ensure comfort and safety throughout
- Assist laboratory staff with specimen collection, processing, and handling
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of ECG equipment and laboratory instruments
- Record patient information accurately and manage clinical documentation
- Maintain laboratory safety standards and follow infection control protocols
- Support general laboratory operations and assist with quality assurance processes
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as an ECG Technician or equivalent training (or willingness to obtain through employer-sponsored development)
- Competency in phlebotomy or laboratory assistance techniques
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse patient populations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in technical procedures
- Ability to work effectively within a healthcare team environment
- Reliability and commitment to professional standards in a clinical setting
