Project Controls Lead – Data Center Construction

Turner & Townsend is hiring a Project Controls Lead for Data Center Construction, available as a remote position based in San Francisco, California, US. This full-time role offers the opportunity to lead cost, schedule, and performance management for mission-critical infrastructure projects across multiple locations.

Position Summary

As Project Controls Lead, you will own the financial, scheduling, and performance oversight of complex data center construction initiatives. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution, ensuring projects stay on track, within budget, and aligned with client expectations. You'll partner with project teams, construction partners, and stakeholders to deliver data center facilities that meet rigorous timelines and quality standards.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports; identify variances and implement corrective actions
• Create and monitor detailed project schedules; track progress against baselines and communicate timeline risks to leadership
• Manage change orders, value engineering requests, and scope modifications with thorough documentation and impact analysis
• Prepare monthly performance reports, dashboards, and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders
• Oversee risk assessment, mitigation strategies, and contingency planning throughout project lifecycle
• Maintain project controls documentation systems and ensure data accuracy across cost, schedule, and contract records
• Collaborate with design, construction, and procurement teams to optimize project delivery and resource allocation

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project controls, project management, or construction management experience
• Proven experience managing budgets and schedules on large-scale or complex infrastructure projects
• Strong proficiency with project controls software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of data center construction, industrial facilities, or heavy civil infrastructure preferred
• PMP, DBIA, or equivalent project management certification preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence cross-functional teams
