Software Engineer, Release Engineering

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential open-source software organization seeking a Software Engineer for their Release Engineering team. In this role, you will:

• Write and maintain software that scales to support tens of thousands of automated build, test, and deployment tasks daily
• Collaborate with senior and principal engineers to identify and implement improvements to the developer experience
• Work with a geographically-distributed engineering team across North America and Europe
• Participate in code reviews, both requesting feedback on your work and providing constructive review for others
• Respond to critical service outages during normal working hours (no on-call rotation required)
• Configure and optimize CI/CD pipelines to ensure reliable and efficient software delivery

What We're Looking For

Our client is seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience with object-oriented programming languages, preferably Python
• Passion for and experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation
• Previous experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Comfort developing across Windows, macOS, and Linux environments with shell scripting experience
• Experience collaborating on distributed teams across multiple time zones
• Aptitude for learning existing codebases and driving incremental improvements
• Strong commitment to collaborative, inclusive team practices
