Senior Cost Estimator – Retail Construction (Will Relocate)

Turner & Townsend is hiring a Senior Cost Estimator for Retail Construction in Cupertino, California, for a remote, full-time position. Join our team to lead cost estimation on complex retail construction projects.

Role Overview

As a Senior Cost Estimator specializing in retail construction, you'll drive cost analysis and estimation for substantial commercial developments. Your work will encompass analyzing architectural and engineering documentation, assessing material and labor requirements, and generating detailed cost projections that guide project execution and inform client decisions. Your expertise will be instrumental to bid success, cost management, and project profitability throughout all project phases.

Your Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for retail construction projects using industry-standard estimating software and established methodologies
• Review construction documents, specifications, and site conditions to identify cost drivers and risk factors
• Analyze material pricing, labor rates, and equipment expenses to develop accurate budgets
• Support bid preparation and proposal creation for prospective clients
• Engage with project teams, designers, and clients to discuss cost implications and value optimization opportunities
• Update estimates as project scope, market conditions, and requirements change
• Partner with project management and operations to track actual project costs versus estimates

Who We're Looking For

• 5+ years in construction cost estimating, with retail or commercial construction experience preferred
• Working knowledge of construction estimating platforms such as RSMeans, Timberline, or comparable tools
• Solid grasp of construction techniques, materials, and industry labor practices
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline (or comparable professional background)
• Strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and careful attention to detail
• Proven ability to manage multiple estimates at once and meet demanding timelines
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; comfortable collaborating with architects, engineers, and project leads
