Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in Berlin that is building innovative AI-powered products. They need an Engineering Manager to lead a Product Engineering team focused on automation and AI-driven solutions for the healthcare sector.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide a fast-moving team through rapid experimentation and iteration. You'll have the opportunity to shape a new product from the ground up, working closely with product management to test ideas with real users and build solutions that scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead, inspire, and grow a high-performing team of 3–6 software and AI engineers
• Collaborate closely with product management to iteratively build, launch, and improve new products
• Own hiring for your team, building a roster of high-performing engineers
• Keep your team at the cutting edge of LLM and AI-based engineering, testing new ideas and technology as it's released
• Own the quality, reliability, and security of your team's products, delivering high-availability production systems
• Stay hands-on, developing alongside your team
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives as a member of the engineering leadership team
• Guide the team through rapid learning cycles, helping them experiment and pivot when needed

What We're Looking For

• 1+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and 8+ years of overall experience in software development
• Strong technical background building customer-facing products
• Experience working in TypeScript or similar ecosystems
• Experience with cloud-native development
• Proven track record designing, building, and owning customer-facing products and production back-end systems
• Deep understanding of software engineering processes and team management
• Empathy and excellent communication skills
• Ability to move quickly and guide teams through rapid iteration

Location & Work Arrangement

This role is based in Berlin with a hybrid work setup and flexible working hours. The client offers up to 4 weeks of workation annually.

Pay

Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process and are competitive for the Berlin market and this level of experience.
