ServiceNow is seeking a Principal Applications Development Engineer to join our Hyderabad, India office in a full-time, on-site role. You'll lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable application solutions across our ServiceNow platform.
About This Position
This is a senior-level engineering position where you'll architect and deliver enterprise-grade applications on the ServiceNow platform. You'll take ownership of critical development initiatives, mentor engineering teams, and drive technical excellence across application development practices. Working directly with product, architecture, and operations teams, you'll influence how ServiceNow's platform evolves and scales globally.
Core Duties
- Design and develop high-performance applications and integrations on the ServiceNow platform using JavaScript, REST APIs, and platform-native capabilities
- Lead the full development lifecycle from requirements analysis through deployment and maintenance, ensuring adherence to security and performance standards
- Architect scalable solutions that handle complex business processes and high-volume data operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, architects, and infrastructure engineers to define technical roadmaps
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, review code, and establish coding standards and best practices
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, optimise application performance, and implement monitoring strategies
- Stay current with ServiceNow platform updates, emerging technologies, and industry trends
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of professional software development experience, with significant depth in application development or platform engineering
- Expert proficiency with JavaScript, REST APIs, and SQL; demonstrated experience with at least one enterprise application platform
- Proven expertise building scalable, maintainable applications with strong architectural thinking
- Deep understanding of secure coding practices, data management, and system integration patterns
- Experience mentoring developers and influencing technical decisions at a senior level
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly
