Data/ Java Engineer (AI/LLM Chatbot, Customer Service)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential blockchain technology organization seeking an experienced Data/Java Engineer to join their AI and customer service initiatives in the APAC region. Our talent team is partnering with a leading platform in the digital infrastructure space to find engineers who can architect and deliver large-scale chatbot solutions powered by modern AI capabilities.

This role offers the chance to build backend systems that serve millions of users daily, integrating LLM technology to elevate customer service experiences. You'll work on complex distributed systems, tackle performance optimization challenges, and collaborate across engineering disciplines in a remote-first environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement backend services for AI-powered chatbot products serving a global user base
• Build large-scale software systems that impact millions of customers in their daily interactions
• Explore and integrate LLM applications to enhance chatbot performance and user experience
• Handle infrastructure and architecture upgrades, performance tuning, troubleshooting production incidents, and system refactoring
• Write high-quality, clean, and maintainable code following engineering best practices
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
• Over 8 years of professional experience in software engineering
• Strong core Java programming skills with a hands-on coding approach
• Knowledge and experience with Python, comfortable collaborating with algorithm engineers
• Ability to work under pressure and quickly learn new technologies
• Excellent cross-team communication skills
• Solid understanding of design patterns and system design for solving common software challenges
• Experience with chatbot and customer service bot systems is a plus
• Familiarity with LLM usage and integration is a plus
• Experience with data processing frameworks like Flink or Spark is a plus
