Industrial Automation Specialist

REXEL is hiring an Industrial Automation Specialist in Asheville, NC, to bring technical expertise and customer focus to our growing industrial market. This full-time position connects manufacturers and facilities across the region with automation solutions that drive efficiency and reliability.

Position Summary

As an Industrial Automation Specialist at REXEL in Asheville, you'll be the technical and sales resource that industrial customers turn to when they need to upgrade, troubleshoot, or optimize their control systems and automation infrastructure. You'll combine product knowledge with consultative selling to recommend the right solutions—whether that's PLCs, variable frequency drives, motor controls, or complete system integrations—and support projects from proposal through successful startup and beyond.

What You'll Do

• Identify and qualify automation opportunities within manufacturing, food processing, logistics, and facility management accounts across your territory
• Conduct site assessments and technical consultations to understand customer production challenges and automation goals
• Recommend and quote industrial control solutions, electrical automation equipment, and related services
• Provide technical product expertise to engineering teams, integrators, and end-users to ensure proper application and performance
• Build and cultivate long-term relationships with key accounts, OEMs, and system integrators
• Work collaboratively with REXEL's internal technical and logistics teams to deliver on customer promises
• Stay informed on automation technology advances and competitive offerings to maintain REXEL's market position

What We're Looking For

• Sales or technical experience in industrial automation, electrical distribution, controls, or manufacturing
• Solid working knowledge of PLC programming concepts, VFDs, soft starters, and industrial control wiring practices
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and control circuit designs
• Strong communication and presentation skills—comfortable engaging with both technical engineers and facility decision-makers
• Proven ability to build customer relationships, manage territory, and close sales
• Problem-solving orientation and genuine curiosity about how industrial operations work
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within your sales territory
