Senior Data Platform Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that provides critical funding solutions to small businesses. Our talent team is seeking a Senior Data Platform Engineer to join their remote team in Argentina. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the VP of Technology, focused on modernizing data infrastructure and building scalable platform services that power business-critical workflows.

You will drive platform transformation initiatives, develop high-performance APIs, and architect solutions that replace legacy systems with modern, cloud-native alternatives. Your work will directly impact operational efficiency and the organization's ability to scale and innovate.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead platform modernization efforts by building scalable services that migrate systems from legacy.NET to Python on Databricks
• Design and implement secure, maintainable REST APIs supporting internal systems and third-party integrations
• Drive engineering excellence through code quality standards, observability practices, and scalable architecture patterns
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering, data, and product teams in a distributed environment
• Influence architecture decisions, technical standards, and delivery practices across the organization
• Build production-grade backend systems in complex, data-intensive environments
• Operate autonomously in ambiguous technical situations with strong ownership mindset

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• 5+ years building scalable backend services and APIs using Python
• Proven experience with Databricks, Spark, and data platform ecosystems
• Track record contributing to or leading platform modernization or migration initiatives
• Experience working in cloud-native environments, preferably Azure
• Production experience designing and operating REST APIs
• Advanced Python skills including service development, testing, packaging, and maintainable design patterns
• Expertise with REST API design, authentication, versioning, and error handling best practices
• Experience with frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask
• Strong knowledge of Azure cloud services (compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, API management)
• Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• DevOps fundamentals including deployment pipelines and secrets management
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Background in regulated industries such as fintech, banking, or healthcare
• Experience with Vue.js or modern frontend frameworks
• Knowledge of Streamlit, Terraform/Bicep
• Familiarity with AI-enabled application patterns
• Understanding of.NET/C# environments
