About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AI-powered intelligence firm focused on financial crime and blockchain investigations. Our talent team is seeking an Insights Editor to lead the creation of data-driven intelligence products that help position our client as a trusted voice on crypto-related financial crime.
This role sits at the intersection of global investigations, threat intelligence, data science, and policy. You will translate complex analytical work into clear, compelling narratives for audiences ranging from law enforcement and regulators to financial institutions and the public.
Responsibilities
- Lead intelligence product development: Generate, scope, edit, and distribute intelligence products for both public and private distribution. Produce scoping documents defining key questions, core narrative, and data requirements. Own the full editorial process from concept through publication. Maintain a recurring cadence of proactive products for law enforcement, government, and private-sector distribution.
- Produce reactive content: Create quick-turn responses to sanctions announcements, enforcement actions, and breaking developments in crypto crime on tight timelines (6-12 hours when needed) without sacrificing accuracy or editorial standards.
- Write, edit, and de-risk content: Author and edit intelligence products for clarity, structure, style, and impact. Verify and cross-check the accuracy of data, references, and claims. Apply data de-risking standards. Provide clear perspective on the best visual representations of data and narratives.
- Partner with analysts and stakeholders: Work closely with threat intelligence, investigations, data science, product, policy, and marketing teams to identify the most impactful stories. Act as a thought partner to analysts and investigators, helping shape research questions and analytical frames.
- Manage production operations: Manage project plans, milestones, and stakeholder communication. Ensure each product follows a clear narrative spine and aligns with strategic priorities. Facilitate retrospectives after flagship publications.
What We're Looking For
Core qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, International Relations, Government, Economics, Security Studies, or related field; advanced degree a plus
- 7+ years of professional experience writing and editing data- or research-driven content (investigative reporting, think tank/policy research, intelligence analysis, or similar)
- Exceptional command of the English language with proven ability to simplify complex material without sacrificing accuracy
- Demonstrated experience editing others' work for clarity, narrative coherence, and tone
- Strong research and fact-checking skills; comfortable working with both quantitative data and qualitative sources
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
Domain and technical skills:
- Familiarity with cryptocurrency, blockchain, financial crime, or adjacent domains (sanctions, fraud, cybercrime, AML/CTF, illicit finance), or demonstrated ability to ramp quickly on technical subject matter
- Comfort collaborating with data and analytics teams—reading charts, interrogating data caveats, and discussing methodology
- Experience with content management, editorial workflow, or collaboration tools
- Comfort using and iterating on AI tools while maintaining insistence on highest-quality outputs; AI fluency is a baseline expectation
Nice to have:
- Prior experience in investigations, national security, intelligence, or law enforcement environments
- Experience shaping content for different audiences (public sector vs private sector; technical vs executive)
- Background working in a remote, globally distributed team
- Experience measurably improving engagement with published work
