We are seeking a Data Engineer to transform raw, complex datasets into reliable inputs for research and trading at Jane Street. What You'll Do
- Collaborate closely with trading desks to identify Jane Street's data needs, evaluate datasets, and build pipelines for ingesting and transforming external data.
- Analyze and interpret data, determining its meaning and optimal representation.
- Create and maintain tools and software as needed, shaping the systems you use daily.
This role is collaborative but requires end-to-end ownership of your work. It demands a blend of engineering, data analysis, and product sense to develop deep expertise in your data domains and decide what's worth building next.
What You Bring
- Strong programming skills in any language (Python preferred); ability to write clear, correct, and maintainable code.
- Proficiency with SQL or DataFrame libraries like pandas or Polars.
- Intellectually curious with a meticulous approach to data investigation; enjoy the detective work required to make sense of unfamiliar datasets.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Fluency in English is required.
