Software Development Engineer II Full Stack – Business (Remote @ Colombia)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing marketplace platform seeking a Software Development Engineer II – Full Stack to join their Business verticals team remotely from Colombia. Our client operates a consumer-to-consumer platform where business users run storefronts, auto dealerships, services, rentals, and job listings—meaning every feature you ship directly impacts real businesses and revenue.

This is a full-stack role where you'll own features end-to-end: from React components and GraphQL APIs through to Java microservices and production metrics. You'll work on systems handling some of the highest request volumes in the organization, integrate with payment and e-commerce partners, and use A/B testing to validate every release. This team moves quickly, instruments everything, and treats experimentation as core to the workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy user experiences and backend services across multiple business verticals using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Node.js, and Java
• Own features from planning and design through development, deployment, measurement, and iteration
• Break down complex engineering problems into achievable tasks and deliver within committed timelines
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Data, and business stakeholders to implement new capabilities
• Contribute to A/B tests and use experiment results to guide shipping decisions
• Participate in code reviews, enforce good patterns, and ensure thorough testing and edge-case handling
• Mentor junior engineers, new hires, and interns
• Build shared components, utilities, and services that accelerate team velocity
• Maintain runbooks, alerting, and monitoring for your shipped features
• Participate in on-call rotation with the team
• Use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to increase development velocity and code quality
• Develop subject matter expertise in one or more team sub-domains

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proven ability to own multiple features end-to-end with high efficiency
• Strong full-stack coding skills:
  • React, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web tooling; solid grasp of responsive design, performance, and cross-browser compatibility
  • Java with working understanding of microservices and distributed systems
• Experience building and integrating REST or GraphQL APIs
• Strong knowledge of data structures and object-oriented design
• Hands-on experience using AI coding tools in real engineering workflows, with a clear perspective on when they're helpful
• Track record of following good coding patterns, writing appropriate tests, considering trade-offs, and identifying edge cases
• Comfortable giving and receiving code review feedback
• Bias toward shipping, learning from production, and iterating quickly
• Strong desire and ability to learn continuously
• BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience

Helpful but not required:

• Fluency in other modern object-oriented programming languages
• Agile development experience
• AWS cloud infrastructure experience
• Familiarity with web package managers, bundlers, Node.js, Python, webpack
• Experience with A/B testing platforms (Statsig, LaunchDarkly, Optimizely) and analytics warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake)
• Experience integrating LLM-based APIs (Bedrock, Vertex AI, OpenAI)
• CI/CD pipeline experience
