Senior Full Stack Engineer, Realtime & Voice

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential travel technology client seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer specializing in realtime systems and voice interfaces. This role will anchor an AI-powered customer assistance product that handles complex travel operations including flight changes, cancellations, refunds, and bookings through conversational chat and voice channels.

You will own the realtime and voice infrastructure end-to-end, building robust systems that serve major travel brands at scale. This is a critical technical leadership position for a product experiencing significant growth and customer adoption.

Location: Canada (remote options available depending on the specific arrangement)

Responsibilities

• Architect and maintain the realtime communication layer supporting voice and chat interfaces at enterprise scale
• Build and optimize voice processing pipelines, ensuring low latency and high reliability for customer interactions
• Own the full stack development of features spanning frontend, backend, and voice infrastructure
• Integrate with telephony systems, speech recognition, and synthesis services
• Design resilient systems that handle high-volume concurrent voice and chat sessions
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate agentic capabilities into the realtime layer
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements to latency, reliability, and user experience
• Mentor other engineers and establish best practices for realtime system development

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of full stack engineering experience with production systems
• Deep expertise in realtime systems, WebSockets, WebRTC, or similar bidirectional communication protocols
• Proven experience building voice applications or telephony integrations (IVR, SIP, or similar)
• Strong proficiency in both frontend and backend technologies—comfortable working across the entire stack
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and deploying scalable services
• Knowledge of speech recognition/synthesis APIs or audio processing fundamentals
• Track record of owning complex technical domains and shipping high-impact features independently
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on performance optimization and system reliability
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
