About This Position

You'll lead AI and machine learning strategy within J.P. Morgan Payments, part of our Commercial & Investment Bank. This on-site role focuses on solving complex challenges across the entire payment lifecycle—from transaction initiation through settlement. You'll work at the intersection of cutting-edge ML technology and real-world financial operations, driving innovation that serves mid-market and enterprise clients worldwide.

Core Duties

• Design, develop, and oversee machine learning models that address critical payment challenges including transaction optimization, fraud detection, and risk assessment
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineers, data scientists, product teams, and business leaders to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions
• Establish technical vision and roadmap for applied AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities
• Build and mentor high-performing ML engineering and data science teams, fostering innovation and technical rigor
• Evaluate, pilot, and integrate emerging AI/ML technologies and platforms to enhance payment systems
• Develop governance frameworks for model validation, monitoring, compliance, and production reliability
• Bridge AI/ML innovation with payments operations to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, security, and customer experience

Skills & Qualifications

• Demonstrated success leading applied ML/AI projects in production, preferably within financial services, payments, or fintech environments
• Expert-level knowledge of machine learning methodologies, model architecture, and deployment practices
• Strong programming expertise in Python, Scala, Java, or similar languages; hands-on experience with ML frameworks and cloud platforms
• Proven ability to architect end-to-end machine learning systems, from data engineering through production monitoring
• Leadership experience mentoring technical teams, communicating with stakeholders, and driving results across organizations
• Knowledge of payment systems, financial regulation, and risk frameworks (or demonstrated ability to master these domains)
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree is a plus
