Role Overview
Our New Graduate Nurse Residency Program at University of Vermont Health - Home Health & Hospice welcomes nurses graduating in May 2026. This structured residency bridges the gap between academic preparation and independent practice in home health and hospice nursing. You'll work within a cohort model that emphasizes mentorship, professional development, and gradual autonomy as you build foundational clinical skills. The program prioritizes your transition to confident, competent practice while delivering meaningful patient care.
Your Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to individuals in home and hospice settings under preceptor guidance
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, social workers, therapists—to coordinate compassionate care plans
- Develop and refine clinical decision-making and critical thinking in complex, real-world scenarios
- Participate actively in educational sessions, case discussions, and reflective debriefing within the residency cohort
- Build foundational leadership competencies through mentoring and team contributions
Who We're Looking For
- Recent nursing graduate or May 2026 graduate eligible for or holding RN licensure in Vermont
