Excise Tax-Senior

EY is seeking an experienced Excise Tax-Senior professional in Sacramento, Sacramento County to provide advanced tax advisory and compliance services. This full-time position is based in our Sacramento office, where you'll join our EY EDGE practice to deliver specialized excise tax solutions for our diverse client base.

As an Excise Tax-Senior at EY, you'll take on a central advisory role helping clients navigate complex federal and state excise tax matters. You'll apply deep technical expertise to solve client challenges while mentoring team members and driving the quality of our excise tax practice. What You'll Do

• Advise clients on excise tax compliance, planning, and mitigation strategies across federal and state jurisdictions
• Prepare and review excise tax returns and compliance documentation for accuracy and completeness
• Conduct excise tax research and analysis to address complex client situations and regulatory changes
• Lead client engagements and manage relationships with senior tax stakeholders at client organizations
• Identify opportunities to expand excise tax services and deepen client value delivery
• Support team development and mentor junior staff on excise tax concepts and best practices
• Stay current with evolving excise tax regulations and communicate changes that affect clients

What We're Looking For

• Advanced experience in excise tax compliance, consulting, or accounting advisory roles
• Strong technical knowledge of federal and state excise tax law and regulatory frameworks
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to regulatory detail
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and communicate tax concepts clearly
• CPA license or equivalent professional qualification strongly preferred
• Ability to lead projects, mentor colleagues, and contribute to team success
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, taxation, finance, or related field
