About the Role

The Safety Support Associate serves as a key member of our Interim Housing team, creating a safe and stable atmosphere through vigilant observation, positive relationship-building, and de-escalation skills. Working in alignment with PATH's low-barrier, client-centered approach, you'll balance security with compassion, helping residents feel both protected and respected while they work toward long-term housing stability.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor the interim housing facility and grounds throughout your shifts, identifying and reporting maintenance or safety concerns
  • Build rapport with program participants and encourage their active participation in maintaining site safety
  • Respond to crisis situations and conflicts using de-escalation and verbal intervention strategies in coordination with supervisory and case management staff
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and prepare clear documentation of observations and incidents
  • Coordinate with case managers and contracted security partners to address emerging safety needs
  • Assist leadership with written incident reports and correspondence related to facility security
  • Engage fully in required training programs and apply new skills to your daily responsibilities
  • Participate in team meetings, safety debriefs, and organizational events

What We're Looking For

  • Detail-oriented and analytically minded; comfortable gathering observations and translating them into clear communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and community partners
  • Clear communicator who conveys information accurately both verbally and in writing
  • Self-starter who identifies problems and takes action without waiting for direction
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and maintaining professional boundaries in all interactions
  • Preferred: one or more years of experience working with homeless or vulnerable populations, security roles, or non-violent crisis intervention

Mandatory Requirements

  • Authorization to work legally in the United States
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it as a condition of employment
  • Successful completion of background screening, tuberculosis test, and drug screening
