About the Role
As a Cook at PATH's interim housing site in Santa Ana, you'll be central to building a supportive, caring environment. Our culinary team is instrumental in the journey of guests who are working to secure and maintain permanent housing. You'll prepare three meals daily plus snacks and refreshments, working alongside case management staff and volunteers to ensure every guest receives nutritious, properly prepared food throughout their stay.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and cook large quantities of food using standardized recipes and production sheets
- Operate kitchen equipment (electric, gas, and steam) safely and maintain it in proper sanitary condition
- Coordinate meal timing to ensure food is served at appropriate temperatures and scheduled times
- Set up and manage tray lines and portable steam tables for dining service
- Follow therapeutic menu requirements and work with kitchen and case management teams
- Support volunteers and contribute to a respectful, welcoming environment for all guests
- Maintain the kitchen as a clean, organized, and efficient workspace
What We're Looking For
- Current Food Handling Certificate, or ability to obtain one
- Valid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and proof of insurance and vehicle ownership (driving is essential for this role)
- Ability and willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid certification
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and tuberculosis test
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a commitment to ethical professional conduct
- One year of paid culinary experience is preferred
- Genuine interest in supporting individuals experiencing homelessness

Position Details
This full-time position offers a mid-day shift schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with compensation ranging from $21.71 to $26.36 per hour depending on experience.
