Position Summary
The University of Connecticut seeks an experienced development leader to build and execute a transformative philanthropic strategy throughout the Southeast. In this role, you'll establish deep relationships with alumni, donors, and institutional partners while advancing UConn's vision for research excellence, student success, and community impact across the region.
Core Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies for the Southeast territory aligned with university priorities
- Identify, cultivate, and secure major gifts and planned giving commitments from individual and institutional prospects
- Develop and nurture long-term relationships with alumni, donors, corporate partners, and community leaders
- Collaborate with university leadership, college deans, and program directors to support campaign objectives
- Manage complex gift structures, proposals, negotiations, and stewardship communications
- Monitor fundraising performance, maintain donor records, and report on development metrics and outcomes
- Travel throughout the Southeast to conduct prospect meetings, cultivation events, and donor engagements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree; graduate degree preferred
- Seven or more years of progressive major gifts fundraising or development leadership experience
- Proven track record securing significant philanthropic commitments and managing complex donor portfolios
- Strong knowledge of university advancement, capital campaigns, or nonprofit development practice
- Excellent relationship-building, strategic planning, and written and verbal communication abilities
- Proficiency with donor databases, CRM platforms, and development operations tools
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly throughout the Southeast region
