Heartstrings Pet Hospice, In-Home Euthanasia & Aftercare is seeking a compassionate, experienced Part-Time Mobile Veterinarian to deliver in-home end-of-life care to pets and families in Alexandria and the surrounding area.
About the Role
As a Mobile Veterinarian, you'll provide dignified, in-home euthanasia and palliative care services directly to pet families during one of their most difficult times. This part-time role lets you practice with intention and deep compassion, building meaningful relationships with each family you serve.
What You'll Do
- Conduct in-home consultations to assess pet comfort, discuss treatment options, and provide end-of-life care recommendations
- Perform humane euthanasia procedures in clients' homes, prioritizing pet comfort and family dignity
- Coordinate aftercare arrangements including cremation and memorial services
- Maintain detailed medical records and communicate clearly with families throughout the care process
- Build trusting relationships with pet families during vulnerable moments
- Travel to client homes throughout Alexandria and surrounding communities
What We're Looking For
- Active DVM license in Virginia
- Experience in veterinary medicine, with experience in euthanasia or hospice care preferred
- Genuine compassion for animals and their families
- Strong communication and bedside manner skills
- Ability to travel to client homes throughout the service area
- Commitment to providing dignified, peaceful end-of-life experiences
