About the Role
This full-time position offers you the freedom to practice veterinary medicine on your terms. You'll manage your own schedule, build lasting client relationships, and work within a clinical environment designed around clinical judgment rather than corporate quotas. You'll gain the expertise to become a specialist in end-of-life veterinary care and in-home euthanasia services.
What You'll Do
- Provide in-home veterinary assessments for senior, ill, and end-of-life pets at client residences across Fredericksburg, Woodbridge, Manassas, Culpeper, and surrounding areas
- Perform humane in-home euthanasia procedures with compassion and technical precision
- Develop individualized hospice care plans for pets with chronic or terminal conditions
- Educate families on palliative care options, quality-of-life assessment, and end-of-life decision-making
- Maintain detailed medical records and communicate clearly with pet owners about clinical findings and recommendations
- Manage your own mobile veterinary toolkit and ensure proper sterilization and supply management
What We're Looking For
- DVM or veterinary degree from an AVMA-accredited school with Virginia licensure (or eligibility)
- Experience with or genuine interest in hospice, geriatric, or end-of-life companion animal medicine
- Excellent communication skills and empathy when discussing sensitive topics with pet owners
- Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule and clinical decisions
- Reliable transportation and comfort with house calls across a multi-county service area
- Current knowledge of pharmaceutical protocols for end-of-life care and euthanasia standards
