Part-Time Veterinarian

Heartstrings Pet Hospice, In-Home Euthanasia & Aftercare is seeking a compassionate Part-Time Veterinarian to support pets and their families across San Jose and the surrounding Santa Clara County community. About the Role

As a Part-Time Veterinarian with Heartstrings Pet Hospice in San Jose, you will travel directly to clients' homes to deliver hospice, in-home euthanasia, and end-of-life support. This is an on-site, field-based position (not remote) centered on guiding families through one of the most tender moments of pet ownership with warmth and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide in-home hospice and end-of-life veterinary care throughout San Jose and Santa Clara County.
• Perform gentle, peaceful in-home euthanasia services with skill and sensitivity.
• Support grieving families before, during, and after each appointment with empathy and clear communication.
• Coordinate aftercare arrangements in line with each family's wishes.
• Uphold the practice's founding values of compassion, dignity, and respect in every interaction.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Veinary Medicine (DVM) degree and an active license to practice in California.
• A calm, empathetic presence and genuine commitment to comfort-focused care.
• Strong interpersonal skills for guiding pet owners through difficult decisions.
• Reliable transportation for traveling to client homes across the San Jose area.
• Ability to work independently while representing the practice with professionalism.
