Join Hartford Hospital's Medicine Intensive Care Unit as a Registered Nurse (RN) and provide critical care to our most vulnerable patients in Harwinton, Litchfield County. Located in the HH Bliss Wing, this full-time permanent nights position offers the opportunity to make a direct impact on patient outcomes in a dynamic, evidence-based medical environment.

About the Role

As an RN in our Medicine ICU, you'll deliver compassionate, high-acuity nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions requiring intensive monitoring and intervention. This position operates on a permanent nights schedule with every other weekend and every other holiday rotation, allowing for work-life balance within a structured schedule.

What You'll Do

  • Monitor critically ill patients and respond rapidly to changes in clinical status
  • Manage IV medications, infusions, and complex medication regimens
  • Operate and troubleshoot bedside equipment including ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps
  • Perform frequent assessments and document findings in the electronic health record
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary care team
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families during critical illness
  • Ensure patient safety and infection control protocols throughout your shift

What We're Looking For

  • Current unrestricted Connecticut RN licensure
  • BScN or ADN degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Ability to obtain ACLS certification within the timeframe required by the organization
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
  • Experience with acute or intensive care nursing preferred
  • Comfort working nights and rotating weekends and holidays
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and professional excellence
