Hartford Hospital seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) or Graduate Nurse (GN) to join our neurosurgery team at our Avon location in Hartford County, Connecticut. This is a full-time clinical nursing position where you'll provide specialized care to patients undergoing neurological procedures and recovery.

About the Role

Our neurosurgery unit serves patients with complex neurological conditions requiring surgical intervention. In this role, you'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and clinicians to deliver expert patient care during critical treatment and recovery phases. Your clinical skills and compassionate approach directly impact patient safety and outcomes.

What You'll Do

• Assess and monitor patients before, during, and after neurosurgical procedures
• Conduct neurological assessments and track vital signs to detect changes in patient status
• Administer medications and manage intravenous therapy according to clinical protocols
• Provide post-operative wound care and manage patient recovery needs
• Educate patients and families about procedures, care protocols, and recovery milestones
• Collaborate effectively with the surgical team and allied health professionals
• Maintain accurate, detailed clinical documentation and patient records
• Uphold patient safety standards and infection control practices

What We're Looking For

• Valid Connecticut Registered Nurse (RN) license or Graduate Nurse (GN) credential
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to respond to acute patient changes
• Excellent communication and collaborative teamwork abilities
• Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care
• Comfort working in a dynamic surgical care environment
• Neurosurgery or critical care experience preferred but not required
