Technical Product Manager – AI Neobank

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is building next-generation financial products across Southeast Asia. Our talent team is searching for a Technical Product Manager - AI Neobank to join their operation in Japan.

This is a rare opportunity to own an entire product vertical in a fast-moving environment where products handle real money, regulatory compliance is non-negotiable, and technical excellence is the foundation of everything shipped.

Responsibilities

• Own a complete product vertical including strategy, metrics, roadmap, priorities, and delivery from conception through launch
• Shape technical architecture alongside engineering teams, covering APIs, data flows, ledgering, reconciliation, failure handling, security, and scalability
• Drive critical trade-offs balancing correctness, speed, cost, reliability, regulatory requirements, and user experience
• Integrate regulatory requirements directly into product design across KYC, transaction monitoring, limits, privacy, and licensing
• Apply AI strategically where it genuinely improves outcomes, with clear evaluation frameworks, safeguards, human oversight, and failure handling
• Navigate complex external dependencies including regulatory approvals, financial infrastructure, and third-party partnerships
• Align cross-functional teams including Engineering, Design, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, and Finance around product decisions and launch requirements

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of product management experience with demonstrated ownership of complex technical products from strategy through production
• Strong technical foundation across system architecture, APIs, databases, workflows, failure modes, and distributed systems
• Proven ability to work closely with engineers, review technical designs, and contribute meaningfully to architectural discussions
• Experience in payments, banking, remittance, insurance, trading, or another regulated, high-consequence product domain
• Strong product judgment and ability to make difficult trade-offs under technical, regulatory, and operational constraints
• Experience building with LLMs or AI products, including evaluation, reliability assessment, and understanding when deterministic systems must remain in control
• Strong English communication skills for global team collaboration

Preferred qualifications:

• Engineering background or highly technical product experience
• Experience building zero-to-one fintech or consumer products
• Experience defining evaluation frameworks for ML or LLM-powered products

Work arrangement: This is a hybrid role requiring office presence at least 3 days per week in Japan. Candidates must be based in or able to relocate to the advertised location.
