Position Summary
The Technical Designer role at Gensler is a full-time, on-site position based in Charlotte, NC. You will work closely with architects and design teams to translate design concepts into precise technical documentation and construction-ready drawings. This position combines creative problem-solving with technical precision, supporting the delivery of high-quality projects across multiple disciplines and building types.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain construction documents, technical drawings, and specifications under the guidance of senior designers and architects
- Coordinate technical details and resolve conflicts between architectural intent and constructability
- Produce detailed drawings and specifications using industry-standard design and BIM software
- Participate in design development and construction administration phases of projects
- Support code research and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical accuracy and design coordination
What We're Looking For
- Strong proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, or other professional design software
- Solid understanding of architectural drawing standards and construction documentation practices
- Excellent attention to detail and technical communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented design environment
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, architectural technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience)
- Knowledge of building codes and construction practices is a plus
