Architect – Cities – Senior

Join Gensler as a Senior Architect specializing in cities and urban projects in our Seattle, King County office. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead innovative design solutions and guide projects from conception through construction completion.

Position Summary

As a Senior Architect within our Cities practice, you will direct the development of design solutions for complex urban and civic projects. Managing the full project lifecycle—from initial design concepts through construction documentation and site oversight—you'll ensure architectural vision becomes reality while supporting and mentoring the design team.

Core Duties

• Lead architectural design development, converting sketches and design concepts into detailed 3D models and construction-ready technical drawings
• Oversee construction administration and coordinate between design, construction, and client stakeholders to achieve design intent
• Investigate and resolve technical design challenges through research and application of building codes and best practices
• Collaborate with architects, designers, engineers, and planning specialists across the project team
• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation and specifications that guide construction delivery
• Mentor and develop junior team members while maintaining high standards for design quality

Skills & Qualifications

• Professional architect license (NCARB registered or state-licensed equivalent)
• Extensive experience designing and delivering architecture projects, particularly in urban or civic contexts
• Expert-level skill with 3D modeling, BIM software, and CAD platforms
• Solid knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and design constructability
• Proven track record managing complex projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
• Strong communication and presentation abilities
• Leadership experience and demonstrated commitment to design excellence
