Teacher – 5th Reading/Language Arts

Forney Independent School District seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated Teacher for 5th Grade Reading and Language Arts to join our intermediate school team in the United States. About the Role

As a 5th Grade Reading and Language Arts Teacher, you'll create an engaging, inclusive classroom where students build strong foundational reading comprehension, writing, and communication skills. This position plays a vital role in preparing intermediate students for success in middle school and beyond, combining instructional excellence with classroom management that supports diverse learners.

What You'll Do

• Design and deliver standards-aligned reading and language arts instruction that meets the needs of all learners
• Teach reading comprehension, phonics, writing composition, grammar, and verbal communication skills
• Implement engaging lesson plans that develop critical thinking and build student confidence in literacy
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction accordingly
• Foster a classroom environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and a growth mindset
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress and learning goals
• Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum and share best practices
• Support school initiatives and participate in professional development opportunities

What We're Looking For

• Valid US teaching certification or eligibility for 5th Grade English Language Arts
• Strong knowledge of elementary reading instruction and literacy development
• Experience or demonstrated ability to teach diverse learners, including those with varying abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to create structured, positive learning environments
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and student-centered teaching practices
• Organizational skills and attention to detail in lesson planning and documentation
