About the Role

This NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position is open immediately within the Department of Pathology and Microbiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine. Working in Dr. Ng's fast-paced parasitology research group, you will investigate the molecular pathways that drive antimalarial drug resistance in Plasmodium falciparum, with particular emphasis on the malaria parasite proteasome and ubiquitination biology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and carry out experiments examining drug resistance mechanisms in Plasmodium falciparum.
  • Study the structure and function of the malaria parasite proteasome and its associated ubiquitination processes.
  • Analyze, interpret, and document experimental findings with rigor and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to manuscripts, grant materials, and presentations communicating research outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the research group and the wider department.

Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in parasitology, microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience, ideally involving parasitology, molecular biology, or biochemistry techniques.
  • Strong analytical abilities, with the capacity to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A history of clear scientific communication, including peer-reviewed publications.
