About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that is a market leader in point-of-sale and restaurant management solutions in Central Europe. Our client seeks a talented Software Engineer with strong mobile development expertise to join their product engineering team in Czechia.

This role offers the opportunity to work on Android-based applications used in high-volume restaurant environments, with direct access to customer feedback and the ability to shape product direction. You'll be part of a collaborative, AI-enabled development environment where engineers contribute across the full stack.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Android applications written in Kotlin for production restaurant environments
• Contribute to end-to-end feature development, including back-end services in Node.js or PHP when needed
• Write clean, secure, well-tested code with emphasis on quality and maintainability
• Integrate APIs and build tools that enhance platform capabilities
• Participate in code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and release cycles
• Work with databases including MongoDB and MariaDB to support application features
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver cohesive, user-focused solutions
• Continuously improve code through refactoring and deprecation work
• Mentor junior developers through thoughtful code review

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 3+ years developing and shipping Android applications in Kotlin to production/Play Store
• Solid command of Jetpack libraries and modern Android architecture (MVVM or MVI, ViewModel, Navigation, Kotlin Coroutines and Flow)
• Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose
• Proven experience designing and consuming REST APIs, including error handling, caching, and offline strategies (Retrofit/OkHttp, Room)
• Experience with dependency injection frameworks (Hilt/Dagger or Koin) and modularized codebases
• Proficiency writing unit and UI tests (JUnit, Espresso/Compose testing) with habit of testing your own work
• Confident with Git workflows and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for mobile (GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Fastlane)
• Understanding of app performance, memory management, and debugging/profiling tools
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) with sound judgment about validating AI-generated code
• Ability to work independently on medium-sized features from ticket to release
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Fluent written and spoken English

Advantageous Skills:

• Experience with back-end development (Node.js, PHP or similar)
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases (MariaDB, MongoDB)
• Basic cloud/infrastructure experience with Kubernetes, AWS, or Azure
• Familiarity with containers and Docker
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban)
