About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential technology consulting organization seeking a Staff Software Engineer for a fully remote role based in the United States. This is a direct-hire, full-time W2 position offering significant opportunities for technical leadership and career advancement.
We are looking for an accomplished engineer with 8+ years of experience who can lead complex, cross-team initiatives and mentor senior engineers while driving architecture decisions at scale.
Responsibilities
- Lead and architect complex engineering initiatives that span multiple teams and systems
- Drive technical strategy and influence engineering culture and standards across the organization
- Provide technical mentorship and leadership to senior engineers
- Design and implement large-scale distributed systems, cloud platforms, or data systems
- Champion operational excellence, reliability, and observability practices
- Participate in multi-year platform modernization efforts
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Maintain and operate large-scale production systems with a focus on cost-aware engineering
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Proven track record leading complex, cross-team engineering initiatives
- Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud platforms, or large-scale data systems
- Strong programming skills in at least one major backend language
- Excellent system design and architecture capabilities
- Demonstrated experience mentoring and providing technical leadership to senior engineers
- Strong understanding of operational excellence, reliability, and observability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience influencing engineering culture and setting technical standards
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience driving multi-year platform modernization initiatives
- Public technical contributions such as conference talks, papers, or open-source projects
- Hands-on experience operating large-scale production systems
- Background building engineering organizations and platforms
- Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware engineering practices

Pay
