About This Role

We are representing a confidential software company building next-generation developer tooling. They are expanding their design team from two to three people, and this role will own the design direction for web surfaces and automation features within an emerging AI-native development environment. This is a high-impact opportunity to shape product direction from the ground up with a small, focused team.

Responsibilities

• Design web interfaces for team management, automation configuration, and results visualization
• Establish and lead design processes for the automations engineering sub-team, including review and handoff workflows
• Define product scope by translating strategic direction into shipped features, determining what gets built and what doesn't
• Evolve the design system across web and desktop surfaces, maintaining consistency while allowing appropriate flexibility
• Prototype rapidly using AI tools and code when appropriate to advance ideas efficiently
• Contribute design perspective to cross-functional demos and quarterly planning cycles

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 7+ years of product design experience with demonstrated business impact
• Strong ownership mindset — you see features through from design to production and consider delivery essential to your role
• Excellent cross-team project management skills: ability to work with limited context, clarify priorities, define scope, and drive projects forward independently
• Active use of AI tools in your design workflow; experience experimenting with AI-assisted prototyping or building (Cursor, Claude, or similar tools)
• Solid Figma proficiency including components, tokens/variables, and design systems — you can navigate and contribute to existing UI kits effectively

Preferred:

• Experience designing for developer-focused products or technical tools (development environments, dashboards, data platforms)
• Background in design engineering, vibe-coding, or code-level prototyping
• Familiarity with AI-native interface patterns such as trust signals, human-in-the-loop workflows, and error handling at scale
