Senior Backend Engineer: Offsite Search Optimisation

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential ecommerce technology company seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to focus on offsite search optimization. This is a fully remote position where you'll work on production systems that handle significant scale across global markets.

Our client operates at the intersection of search technology and revenue optimization, building systems that process billions of queries. You'll be joining their engineering-focused organization to own and evolve backend services that power critical optimization capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Build and own production backend services using Python
• Work with data-heavy systems including analytics, metrics, and logging infrastructure
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and debugging solutions for user-facing systems
• Ship maintainable software through testing, code review, and incremental delivery practices
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver search optimization features
• Handle data integrations and work with both structured and unstructured data sources

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Strong experience building and maintaining production backend services in Python
• Advanced SQL skills and proven ability to work with data-intensive systems
• Experience implementing monitoring, alerting, and debugging for production systems
• Track record of shipping maintainable code with proper testing and review processes

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge of SEO fundamentals
• Experience with APIs and authentication protocols (OAuth2, GA4, Google Search Analytics API)
• Background working with non-structured data such as referrers, canonical URLs, and page types
• Experience building data integrations between products
• Understanding of ETL/ELT workflows using PySpark
